December 2017 NewsLetter

13th December, 2017

Dear Parent/Guardian,

God sent His son
They called Him Jesus
He came to love
Heal and forgive
He lived and died
To buy my pardon
An empty grave
Is there to prove
My saviour lives

Because He lives
I can face tomorrow
Because He lives
All fear is gone
Because I know
He holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because He lives

We are thankful to the Almighty God for His divine protection, love, faithfulness and indeed for all that He has shown to the Angels Family during the “Dawning of a New Day”. The first trimester of the 2017/2018 Academic year comes to a close at 14:00 hours on Thursday, December 14, 2017. School will reopen for the Second Trimester on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.

There will be the usual children’s end-of-year party on the day of vacation, (December 14, 2017).  Children are expected to bring along enough food and drinks for themselves and their friends. They should be in their party dresses on this day. DRESSES SHOULD BE DECENT and acceptable by the school standards.

For pre-school and primary departments the end of term examination reports and scripts will be released to parents on December 14, 2017; while those for Junior High and Secondary departments will be available for collection on 22nd December, 2017.

The school wishes to thank all parents for the active roles they played during the celebration of ASSI Teacher’s Appreciation Day on October 5, 2017 and also for their generous contributions and support during the celebration of ASSI Megafest 2017.

Management and the Save Our Teacher Committee are very grateful to all parents, teachers, committee members (and corporate bodies) who contributed various sums of monies to help Mr. Albert Annobil gather funds for his kidney transplant in India.  As a school, our prayer is that the Almighty God sees him through the transplant and post-surgery treatment very successfully so that he returns to continue the excellent work he is recognized for.

The 2018 BECE examination will come off between the 4th and 8th of June 2018.  ASSI’s performance in the BECE over the last two academic years have not been up to Management’s expectation.  Though our candidates recorded 100% passes with up to 54% distinctions, we are looking at improving tremendously over our past performances. As part of our final preparations for the 2018 BECE examinations, we request that all students in Grade 9 (GES)/JHS 3 be camped in the school’s boarding house with effect from February 1, 2018.  This arrangement comes at a subsidized cost to Parents/Guardians.  We are counting on the cooperation of all concerned parents to help us inject some sense of urgency in our young candidates and to have them prepared adequately before the final exams.

Registration for the 2018 IGCSE examinations will begin on December 19, 2017 and end on January 15, 2018.  The detailed individual costs have already been communicated to parents of the candidates.  We urge all concerned to ensure the registration fees are paid on time to enable us register the Grade 11 students for the international exams.

ASSI will continue to promote its club activities in the 2nd trimester.  For the information of parents/guardian whose wards are registered members of the school’s Airforce Cadet, the following are the cost of the training logistics and uniforms:

  • Cost of set of uniform

                                      = GH¢125.00

  • Cost of training T-shirt

                                        = GH¢25.00

  • Cost of headgear and belt

                                        = GH¢50.00

Please note that our Spelling Bee Club is still open for the registration of new members.  Parents should encourage interested pupils to partake in this enlightening experience.

Please find attached the academic calendar for the 2nd trimester of the 2017/2018 academic year.

Do enjoy the yuletide.

Have a very Merry Christmas.
