MID-TRIMESTER RECESS

We wish to announce that the mid-trimester recess begins at 14:00 hours today Thursday, 22nd May, 2014 and ends on Tuesday, 27th May, 2014. The school resumes for intensive academic work on Wednesday, 28th May, 2014.

RELEASE OF MID-TRIMESTER EXAMINATION REPORTS

The mid-trimester examination papers and reports will be released to parents on Thursday, 29th May, 2014.  We appeal to parents to make the effort to collect the examination papers and reports personally from the class teachers.  This will afford them the opportunity to discuss their wards’ performance and pave the way for progress.

INTRODUCTION OF ABRSM

The school is introducing into the school curriculum the widely acclaimed International Music Programme under the auspices of Association Board of Royal School of Music. To this end we have had to adjust the music programme in the school to suit this arrangement.  We are making the piano lesson a regular school programme.

We are moving the flute lesson to the extra school programme to replace the piano lesson.  This means that piano lesson has been made compulsory for every child. It also goes to reveal that music will now be an examinable subject in Angels School. However, parents who wish to have their wards learn to play the flute can do so only after school. This change of programme is to enable and equip children who decide to sit for the ABRSM examinations.

ELECTRONIC MULTI-PURPOSE ID CARD

At our last stakeholders’ meeting held on the 5th of April, 2014 the school expressed its intention of giving electronic ID Cards that will also serve as “time canteen coupons” where parents could load and control the amount of money they want their children to spend as was demonstrated at the meeting. This electronic ID card will also serve as biometric attendance card which children will swipe when they come to school and when they leave. Since this attendance data will be stored electronically parents can always find out when their wards are in and when they leave.  The cost of this whole project will be entirely borne by the school. The part for parents to bear will be just the cost of their children’s card which is only Seventeen Ghana Cedis (GH¢17).

The equipment for this has been acquired by the school. Pictures of children will be taken on Thursday, 29th May, 2014. Parents have up to Friday, 30th May, 2014 to pay for their wards’ cards. Parents should note that this project is being carried out on pilot basis only at the Primary department for the remaining half of the trimester. We hope to extend it to the Junior High and Pre-School next academic year, God willing.

RECOGNITION FOR EXCELLENCE AWARD

Our School has once again been invited to Akosombo by the New Ghanaian Magazine, a renowned magazine that awards corporate bodies, individuals, to receive an award for Continuous Academic Excellence on the 28th June, 2014. We thank the Lord and give Him the Glory for His continuous Mercies and Favour. To God be the Glory.

A POSSIBILITY TO MAINTAIN THE BECE

We have just emerged from the first attempt at Cambridge International Programme, following a well-drawn time table and structure for both Ghana Education Service and the Cambridge International Examination for a whole year.  Since the introduction of Cambridge in Angels, Management has been given a strong sense of possibility to maintain and continue the BECE indefinitely, that is beyond the 2019 deadline.  This smooth and fluid combination of programmes has served as a feasibility study on the running of both programmes concurrently.  Parents should note that management and the Board of Governors (BOG) are still studying the trends and are having discussions in this regard.

BREAKING NEWS, POSSIBLE REDUCTION OF FEES

The BOG with consultation with the accounts department will as a matter of policy “de-dollarize” the school.  This means that come next academic year, every child will be moved from dollar to Cedi. Additionally fees will be the same across the board for all parents.  Instead of raising the Cedi status to dollar and leveling it, we wish to reduce the dollar equivalence to level with the cedi. Parents should note that these changes do not affect the difference that exist in fees from one department to another, yet are all in Cedis (that is; fees for nursery may differ from fees for Primary and that of Primary for Junior High).

ADMISSION FORM OUT

We would like to announce to all parents that our admission forms for the 2014/2015 academic year are made available.  Parents who wish to obtain copies for onward registration may come to the front desk of the primary department to pick one or visit the school’s website and download, fill and return same to the school.  Parents may pass this notice on to friends and relatives who wish to have their children in our school.

SUMMER EDUCATION CAMPS

The school is forging alliance with a very credible travel agency that organizes summer school programmes for children all over the world to send as many Angels School children who wish to go on a summer trip this long vacation.  This is the same agency that sponsored the winners of the T. V. Talented Kids show.  Parents may remember they did a presentation at the recent stake holders’ meeting. Please find attached a letter from the agency.
