Dear Parent,

The Lord of All Creation
Before Whom Angels stand
In total Education
For Each Child at a time
In Spirit Body Soul & Mind
We strive to keep the Prize
God bless each child in Angels Specialist School We Pray

~ School Anthem

A quick look at the lyrics of the school song reveals them as a fervent prayer to Almighty God about our children; just as they touch on how we hope to stand before God. In all, they embrace Education for each child at a time. And also reveal that in order to keep the prize (and place) we won over the years we need to forge ahead bearing in mind that to maintain a prize, one must strive twice as much as one did at the instance of winning it. We have realized the essence of capturing the phrase “Total Education” from the song and have adopted it as the theme for this trimester.

WELCOME BACK TO THE TERM OF “TOTAL EDUCATION”

We wish to welcome all our children, teachers and parents to this New Year and to this term of total education. In “total education” we hanker for the kind of education that affects a child’s whole being – Spirit, Body, Soul and Mind as captured in the song. We are more than committed to giving each child in our school an opportunity to develop spiritually, physically and mentally. This has been the inspiration behind our unrelenting spiritual activities such as worship, prayer, Bible stories, counselling, and moral training for the soul. And in recent times we have intensified the physical activities to embrace sports, athletics etc. and spiritual music, arts in addition to the academic work.
We are grateful to the God of all creation for granting us life to see this year and term. May His name be ever praised.

TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION

Our school will be 20 years this September 2020. As such, we management, will invite some parents as well as teachers to constitute a Planning Committee to plan the one-year activities to mark the anniversary.

A FURTHER BEEFING UP OF SECURITY

The school is into partnership with a security company to mount a notification post, a web based system, where children after arriving in school will clock in and immediately notify their parents on their phones of their arrival. Similarly parents can be notified when their children leave school. This fingerprint, palm, face biometric attendance recording system is ideal for parents whose kids are brought in school by some other persons other than the parents themselves. It will be mandatory for all students that patronize our school buses.

Each child who subscribes to this application will pay Twenty Cedis (GH¢20.00) per  term. We have given consent to this company to register every student so every parent will have an idea of this notification system for two weeks from the start and without charge. After the period of trial the school will then maintain children whose parents are interested. These children will pay Ten Cedis (GH¢ 10.00) each for the rest of the term. Parents who wish to know the safety of their children when they arrive or depart from school in real time can subscribe for this App. Please call the school Administrator on 0244923514.

SCHOOL CANTEEN

The school would like to inform parents that as from February 2020, the feeding  fee will increase slightly. The increment has been long in coming after over one year of maintaining the price in the face of continuous price hikes of food and commodities on the market. The following are the current cost of a meal per child per department and the difference that will be added.

The canteen will serve fruits as an additional treat and at no cost to students who pay for their feeding in advance (i.e. weekly, monthly and termly). This mode of payment helps the canteen to organize better, financially.

EASTER DONATION – “TOUCHING ANGEL”

The school intends to make donations of used items such as children clothes, dresses, shoes, toys to needy children/school in a village nearby. We are therefore appealing to parents to deposit their children’s used clothes with the school so that we parcel them nicely and donate to other children who are less privileged than ours. We would also like to prepare some hot meals for these less privileged ones on the day of donation. The last time we did this was some ten years ago. We, the school, teachers, children and parents were able to donate two big trucks full of items to a school in Kajanya, a village in the Eastern Region.

This whole experience taught our children to give freely and it opened many doors for us as parents and school. The next donation will be on the 4TH OF APRIL, 2020. Management wishes to involve parents to form a team that will plan this noble cause. Parents will be updated on its progress when the team is formed. For further, information, please call the administrator on 0244923514.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

We started a very active and vigorous extra-curricular programme last term and wish to inform parents that they should continue to encourage their children to be part of these extra activities. A study of the tables below will reveal that 9 out of the 20 clubs and activities are carried out in the mornings and at no cost at all to parents. We urge parents to enroll their children in the after school programmes, and also remind them to take keen interest in these activities so that they could whip up the enthusiasm in the children.

DONATION

The patron of the school choral group Mr. Derkyi, the former BOD chairman, has donated a sizable piano to enhance training and rehearsals by the school choir. We are most thankful. We would extend an invitation to parents who wish to be patrons of any of the clubs or groups.

PRESIDENT DONATES MIRRORS FOR THE CHILDREN’S WASHROOMS

In fulfillment of her manifesto promise, the School President, Sompa Amo-Asare has donated mirrors to be mounted in the girls’ and boys’ washrooms. We are proud to recognize and appreciate this kind gesture.

SCHOOL FEES

It is becoming increasingly difficult for us to run the school very smoothly in the present economic condition when parents either delay payment of fees or fail to honour their promise to meet our deadlines. In light with this, we should like to remind you that per the school fees payment policy parents with one child in the school ought to have paid 100% of the fees by now whereas parents with 2 or more are expected to have paid 75% of total fees. Defaulting pupils will be denied access to class as from Thursday, January 23, 2020. We shall need parents to live up to their financial obligations and to help keep the school running.

MATTERS OF ACADEMICS

Our return to school after the Christmas break has been marked by our resolve to step up academic work in the face of the preparations we make for key external examinations such as the Cambridge Primary and Secondary Checkpoint Tests as well as the 2020 BECE.

The implementation of the New Curriculum has been on course and teachers have successfully sourced the Weekly/Termly Schemes of Learning backed by carefully drawn lesson plans to facilitate teaching and learning across the spectrum.  We continue to lay emphasis on Reading believing that “a child who can read is one who can lead.” Added to these, we have re-introduced Reading, Handwriting and Spelling as separate and examinable components inculcated in the English Language Test Paper for Lower Primary.

Shortly after resumption this term, a team of inspectors from the National Inspectorate Board of the Ministry of Education visited the school on assignment mandated by the authorities to enforce standards and ensure quality education.  It is important to note that the Ministry of Education, in conjunction, with the Ghana Education Service, is taking the issue of inspections of schools rather seriously this time round.  Pretty soon schools will be whipped in line and we should witness marked improvement attainment within the pre-tertiary institutions.

In another vein, we want to suggest to parents to request copies of relevant time-tables drawn by the teachers.  With this, parents will be able to ascertain what subjects will be treated on the daily basis so that they could help their children pack books intended for use for the day only.  When children have to lug heavy bags full of books to and from school that poses a health challenge to them.

We do re-iterate that parents do well to sign their children’s homework as proof of evidence of supervision of the work done.

BOARDING FACILITY

We invite parents who wish to enroll their children into the school’s boarding house to contact us on 0302918090 for further details. Kindly pay us a visit at the boarding house and enroll your child.  The boarders will attest that the boarding house environment is a home away from home for them.  The house master and mistress are strict but very caring.

2020 SPELLING BEE FINALISTS FLY TO KUMASI FOR THE GRAND FINALE

We are proud and happy to inform parents that 15 of our angels qualified for the 2020 Spelling Bee grand finale to be held in Kumasi on the 1st of February, 2020.
(Our school is the only school known to have such a big number qualify for the finals).
On the 30th of January, 2020, all 15 spellers and their coach, Mrs. Irene Oduro and her assistant will fly to Kumasi for the event. All spellers will have the privilege to dine with the Asantehene on the 30th at the Manhyia Palace a day before the grand finale. The coach, her assistant and the students have worked very hard. Parents of the spellers have been incredible with their support. What is left is for God to give the Victory. We pray He does.

Thank you.
